Premier International Junior Golf Tour Span Four PGA TOUR Stops, Nine States

The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) – one of the leading competitive circuits for elite golfers in grades 5-12 – has released the Fall 2013 schedule, featuring 20 events in nine U.S. states.

Showcase venues include four PGA TOUR stops – TPC Scottsdale (Scottsdale, Ariz.), TPC Sawgrass (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), Sea Pines Resort (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), and TPC Louisiana (Avondale, La.).

“The IJGT provides exceptional opportunities for juniors at prestigious golf courses with national rankings from Golfweek, the American Junior Golf Association and Junior Golf Scoreboard,” says Peter Orrell, President and CEO of Junior Sports Corporation, owner/operator of the IJGT. “Our weekly tournament experience offers a unique insight into golf instruction and college placement through on-site seminars, mental training sessions and complimentary clinics.”

August 31 – Sept.1, the IJGT’s top players open the season at TPC Scottsdale, home of the PGA TOUR’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, for a 36-hole shootout.

The annual Thanksgiving Day Classic (Nov. 29 – Dec. 1) will return to TPC Sawgrass – host of the PGA TOUR’s THE PLAYERS Championship – for a 54-hole event. Competitors will challenge the world-renowned Stadium and Valley courses.

Two weeks later (Dec. 14-15), the IJGT heads to Hilton Head Island for the 6th Annual Hank Haney Invitational at Sea Pines Resort. Harbour Town Golf Links is the site of the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage each April.

December 21 – 22, the IJGT will conclude the fall season at its newest venue, TPC Louisiana, near New Orleans. Juniors will compete on the Pete Dye design only four months prior to the PGA TOUR’s Zurich Classic.

Headquartered on Hilton Head Island, S.C., the IJGT annually holds over 60 two-and three-day tournaments throughout the U.S. IJGT members represent 45 states and 43 countries.

IJGT alumni include Webb Simpson, Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan, Paula Creamer and many other PGA and LPGA Tour players. Graduates of the IJGT’s 2013 class play at several top NCAA collegiate programs across the country: the University of South Carolina, Wake Forest University, Florida State University and Texas A&M University, to name a few.
