Ellie Bushnell, Logan Green, Clark Van Gaalen & Landon Alabateo Lead Way In California State Fair Junior Golf Championship at Haggin Oaks

On a very smoky weekend from the nearby Caldor Fire in the Sierra Nevada mountains, several local standout junior golfers posted some very low scores on the Alister MacKenzie GC at Haggin Oaks this past weekend, August 28.

Granite Bay’s Ellie Bushnell continued a remarkable summer in which she’s won numerous junior golf events already in addition to the Sacramento Valley Women’s Championship with a win with a score of 69 – triumphing over Rocklin’s Kaylyn Hoh and Santa Clara’s Janna Andaya, who both shot -2 70’s.

On the boy’s side, a dozen boys posted red scores. In the 14-18 age division, Davis’ Logan Green and Turlock’s Clark Van Gaalen shared honors at six-under-par 66, followed by another stroke behind by Elk Grove’s Zach Mate, who finished in third alone at 67.

The lowest round of the tournament, however, belonged to 13-year-old and Fair Oaks resident Landon Alabateo who rode an amazing eight birdies to a score of 64.
