Our apparel buyers, Heather and Marlene, are in Beaverton, Oregon, at NIKE Headquarters for a few days viewing the Fall/Holiday 2014 Nike apparel and footwear lines. Joining them on this trip are other key account buyers from across the country. This is a great opportunity to learn about upcoming trends and to see the latest in apparel and footwear technology. They even learned that Nike was started by an inventor who made the first pair of shoes with rubber and a waffle iron.
While on this trip, Heather and Marlene will visit one of the Niketown concept stores and bring back some exciting new merchandising ideas to our customers here in Sacramento. Here is a picture of the Tiger Woods Center which is a huge amphitheater on the property.
They have a few pictures to share with our readers to document their time at the campus! They got to take a tour of the NIKE World Headquarters on Tuesday. The Bo Jackson building (the sports fitness center) was their favorite!
The Nolan Ryan sculpture is quite unique – hopefully you can pick up some of the individual pieces that construct this statue. Included are Dr. Pepper cans, license plates, a clock and his baseball glove is made from the soles of sneaker shoes. Very impressive! (click the picture to see a larger version)
If you have any questions, fire away! We’ll try to get the answers from our buyers while they are on their travels!
