The Men’s and Women’s Sacramento State Hornets Golf Team had a big week this past week.

Luke Dugger named Big Sky Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week

For the second-consecutive week, Sacramento State’s Luke Dugger has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week. 
 
Dugger helped Sacramento State to a third-place finish at the Wyoming World Matchplay at Indian Wells Golf Resort. 
 
The graduate student posted a 1-1-1 record in his three matches but led the team with 15 holes won over during the tournament. Dugger halved his first match against Pacific. He ended the tournament with a convincing 4&3 win over UC Irvine. The Hornets and Anteaters finished tied, 3-3, but Sacramento State was awarded the victory based on total holes won in the match. Dugger tied for the team lead during the day with six holes won.

Big Sky Women's Golf of the Week Sneha Sharan mid swing

SNEHA SHARAN NAMED BIG SKY WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

 After securing her first career collegiate victory at the Causeway Invitational at Del Paso Country Club, Sacramento State’s Sneha Sharan has been named Big Sky Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week. 
 
Sharan finished the tournament at 1-over par with rounds of 71-75-71-217. She finished tied for first with Nevada’s Leah John but was awarded the medalist honor based on her third-round score. Sharan was extremely consistent in the tournament, finishing with nine birdies and 36 pars over her 54 holes. Her total score was the second lowest of her career.

Sacramento State Women's Golf Team after Causeway Classic Win

SACRAMENTO STATE WOMEN’S GOLF FINISH FIRST AT CAUSEWAY INVITATIONAL

The Sacramento State women’s golf team earned its second victory of the season with a five-shot win at the Causeway Invitational on Tuesday at Del Paso CC. The Hornets were led by Sneha Sharan who tied for first at 1-over par for the three rounds.

Sacramento State led following each round and totaled 285-294-299-878 to win the event for the second time in five years. Sacramento State now has nine tournament victories dating back to the 2020-21 season. UC Davis finished second at 21-over par while Cal Poly completed the top three at 23-over.
