8th Annual Morton Golf Foundation “The Putting Party” Held on 9/18/19

Have you ever played in a golf event with the winners measured by “Who Laughs The Most?” Welcome to “The Putting Party”!

Imagine the MacKenzie GC practice green, with 105 players on the green, playing a team scramble event over 18 putting holes. Add drinks, appetizers, music and you have a party, a Putting Party.

On September 18th, the event started at 6:00 p.m. with the group meeting in the Pavilion Tent after putting for dinner and awards.

We were so lucky to have Jonathan Sparks, representing Special Olympics of Northern California, sing the National Anthem and then share his story.  Jonathan talked about what Special Olympics has meant to the quality of his life, and how sports have helped him build confidence and meet lots of new people.

The Putting Party proceeds are proud to support the California Eagles, Angels for Hearts, Special Olympics of Northern California and PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere).

The Morton Golf Foundation Volunteer of the Year was also announced. Richie Gibbs received this prestigious honor, and it was more than deserved. Richie has volunteered for virtually every event for the past 12 years, and we are so proud of the fine young man he has become.

As always, we hosted our competition, with the big Winners (high score) going to Team Fazio. Team Parry and Team Fazio were neck and neck throughout the event, holing lots of putts, singing, laughing and dancing. In fact, a team pyramid broke out during the competition, showing Team Parry’s spirit. But in the end, Team Fazio prevailed.

Oh, and we also had a competition for low score, with Team “Billie Baroo” from William Land GC shooting an amazing 30. In second place with a score of 31 was Team “Weapons of Grass Destruction” from Bonneville, and winning the scorecard playoff in third place with a score of 32 was Team “CBS Television”

A BIG thank you to our Tournament Sponsor, Boutin Jones Inc.  Their continued support is key in the success of “The Putting Party”.

See you next year for more fun!
