The New Nike VR_S Golf Clubs Explained

During the recent Haggin Oaks Golf Expo, Frank LaRosa from Golf to Go on ESPN Radio 1320, interviewed Jeff Stewart from Nike Golf on the 2012 VR-S product line.

The “S” in the VR_S line stands for “Speed”. The Nike VR_S product line features clubs with a variable thickness face that is designed to increase ball speed. Watch the video to see the variable thickness on the cutaway for the iron sample that Nike brought with them during the Haggin Oaks Golf Expo.

How does this help you hit the ball further?
The Nike VR_S clubs will increase ball speed on off-center hits that traditionally lose a lot of distance. More ball speed = greater distance!

Find a Nike Demo Day this spring, and check out their Nike Speed Trials! Bring your own driver, fairway wood or hybrid to the Speed Challenge. Nike will hook you up to a launch monitor where you’ll hit three balls with your current club and then three balls with the new VR_S. Distances will be added and compared and you can see for yourself how much distance you have to gain when you upgrade your golf clubs.
