The Morton Golf Foundation Recognizes Suzan Stroud as their 2015 Volunteer of the Year

The Morton Golf Foundation wishes to congratulate and thank Suzan Stroud for her service and dedication and awards her the Morton Golf Foundation 2015 Volunteer of the Year Award.

SuzanStroud_2015MGF_Volunteer_of_the_YearOver 25 years ago, Suzan Stroud knew she wanted to give back to her community when she signed up to be a volunteer for the Raley’s Gold Rush Classic, a Senior PGA TOUR event. This Senior PGA TOUR event was held at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado County and Suzan worked for Raley’s (and still does today). At the time, Raley’s was the tournament Title Sponsor and was reaching out to their employees for volunteer help and involvement with the event as it raised charity dollars for “Food for Families”. Raley’s Food for Families began as a simple holiday food drive but quickly grew to a year round effort to fight hunger. At that time, the tournament had over 800 volunteers and Suzan knew it was an event she wanted to be involved in. Suzan taught volunteerism by example to her 3 children who also volunteered at this event as well.

Suzan continued to follow her volunteer passion by volunteering not only for the Raley’s Gold Rush Classic, but also for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento along with the Morton Golf Foundation. As of today, Suzan and her daughter, Kristina Schefler, (also a Raley’s employee) are key volunteers with the Morton Golf Foundation.

The Morton Golf Foundation has been in existence for the past 6 years and Suzan has been a volunteer since day one. Suzan volunteers in front and behind the scenes at every charity event held by Morton Golf Foundation. Suzan not only volunteers her time but always seems to find one more friend to bring along. The friends that Suzan continues to bring end up being Morton Golf Foundation friends as well, since they also continue to come back to help fund raise throughout the year.

It is the honor and privilege of the Morton Golf Foundation to award SUSAN STROUD the 2015 “Volunteer of the Year” Award. Morton Golf Foundation is proud to have Suzan leading the Volunteer TEAM of Morton Golf Foundation for many more events as we continue to raise money to help local youth, disabled and underserved.
