On Thursday, September 4th, 2025, Haggin Oaks Golf Complex proudly hosted a very special day of learning, growth, and inspiration. In partnership with Youth on Course, the Boys & Girls Club of Sacramento, and Bank of America, 60 kids were introduced to the game of golf through an interactive clinic led by professionals—and one very special guest: PGA Golfer and event winner, Cameron Champ.

A Day of Learning and Fun
The event was designed to give kids hands-on experience with the game, no matter their skill level. Participants rotated through four instructional stations at the Haggin Oaks Academy Holes, covering:
- Putting
- Chipping
- Full Swing
- FootGolf
Helping guide them were Haggin Oaks golf professionals and special instructors, including Nick Wallace, world champion of FootGolf, who led the kids through fun skills and challenges.

Cameron Champ: From Haggin Oaks Junior to PGA Tour Champion
For the young players, the highlight of the day was the chance to meet and learn from Cameron Champ, a golfer who grew up in Sacramento and learned the game right here at Haggin Oaks. Champ, alongside longtime coach Richie Gibbs, spent time with kids on the driving range, sharing both technical guidance and his personal journey—from junior golfer in Sacramento to three-time PGA Tour champion.
This was a full-circle moment: a hometown role model giving back to the same programs that helped launch his career.
Bank of America’s Commitment to Community

As the presenting sponsor of the event, Bank of America underscored their commitment to accessibility in golf. At the conclusion of the clinic, they announced an exciting gift: in partnership with Morton Golf and the NCIG, all participating kids would receive “golfer-ships” to enroll in one of Haggin Oaks’ fall golf programs.
This powerful gesture ensures that the introduction to golf doesn’t end after one day—it creates a pathway for continued learning and growth.
Why It Matters
- Expanding Access: Programs like this help make golf more inclusive, affordable, and welcoming.
- Role Models in Action: For kids, seeing someone like Cameron Champ—who stood where they now stand—proves that big dreams are possible.
- Community Collaboration: With Youth on Course, the Boys & Girls Club, Bank of America, and Morton Golf all working together, the event highlighted the impact of teamwork across organizations.
The 2025 Cameron Champ “Golf with Us” Clinic at Haggin Oaks was more than just a day on the course. It was a reminder of the power of sport to inspire, unite, and create opportunities. For the 60 kids who participated, this was not only an introduction to golf—but the start of a journey that could last a lifetime.
