SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The State Fair Junior Championship for boys and girls ages 7–18 was held Saturday, August 23, at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. Players ages 12–18 competed on the Alister MacKenzie 18-hole course, while the 7–11 division played nine holes on Arcade Creek.


In the Boys 14–18 division, Eduardo Tapper of Menlo Park captured the overall title with a blistering round of 35/29 for a total of 64. Tapper is a senior at Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton.
In the Girls 14–18 division, Gabriella Borrego secured the championship after a tie with Alison Chan at 75. Borrego clinched the win with a par on the second playoff hole.
Other division highlights included:
• Boys 16–18: Winner – Noah Eisen (67). A card-off determined second and third between Jacob Burnett and Kenneth Yang (69).
• Girls 16–18: Winner – Amelia Karnbanjong (79). Runner-up – Kayla Nguyen (81).
• Boys 14–15: Winner – Cru Sullivan (68).
• Girls 14–15: Winner – Allison Chan (75).
• Boys 12–13: Winner – Daniel Tang (76).
• Girls 12–13: Winner – Olivia Lee (75).
• Boys 10–11: Winner – Luke Souther (36).
• Girls 10–11: Winner – Rella Wang (34).
• Boys 7–9: Winner – Stanford Gilmore (35).
• Girls 7–9: Winner – Livy Woodward (36).
The Sacramento Golf Council hosted the tournament under the direction of Council President and Tournament Chairman Mark Perry.
