SACRAMENTO, Calif. β The State Fair Junior Championship for boys and girls ages 7β18 was held Saturday, August 23, at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. Players ages 12β18 competed on the Alister MacKenzie 18-hole course, while the 7β11 division played nine holes on Arcade Creek.


In the Boys 14β18 division, Eduardo Tapper of Menlo Park captured the overall title with a blistering round of 35/29 for a total of 64. Tapper is a senior at Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton.
In the Girls 14β18 division, Gabriella Borrego secured the championship after a tie with Alison Chan at 75. Borrego clinched the win with a par on the second playoff hole.
Other division highlights included:
β’ Boys 16β18: Winner β Noah Eisen (67). A card-off determined second and third between Jacob Burnett and Kenneth Yang (69).
β’ Girls 16β18: Winner β Amelia Karnbanjong (79). Runner-up β Kayla Nguyen (81).
β’ Boys 14β15: Winner β Cru Sullivan (68).
β’ Girls 14β15: Winner β Allison Chan (75).
β’ Boys 12β13: Winner β Daniel Tang (76).
β’ Girls 12β13: Winner β Olivia Lee (75).
β’ Boys 10β11: Winner β Luke Souther (36).
β’ Girls 10β11: Winner β Rella Wang (34).
β’ Boys 7β9: Winner β Stanford Gilmore (35).
β’ Girls 7β9: Winner β Livy Woodward (36).
The Sacramento Golf Council hosted theΒ tournament under the direction of Council President and Tournament Chairman Mark Perry.
