Celebrating Inclusion: Special Olympics Golf Regionals at Haggin Oaks

On a crisp September morning, the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex came alive with the energy and enthusiasm of over 200 Special Olympics athletes. Arriving before 8:00 a.m., participants were ready for a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and celebration.

Morton Golf Foundation Volunteers in Action

Since 2013, the Morton Golf Foundation has proudly supported this event, providing over thirty volunteers who worked one-on-one with athletes at the driving range, assisting them with various golf skills. Their dedication ensures that each participant receives personalized attention, fostering an environment of encouragement and growth.

This year, athletes showcased their abilities in a 9-hole alternate shot format on the Arcade Creek Golf Course. The highlight of the day was the victory of Jeremy McCarthy and his partner Tom Corlett, who clinched the win with impressive teamwork and sportsmanship.

Celebrating Achievements

As the day concluded, participants and volunteers gathered for a well-deserved lunch, enjoying the famous Haggin Oaks burgers while celebrating the achievements of all involved. The smiles and laughter shared underscored the true spirit of the Special Olympics—unity, respect, and joy.

Looking Forward to Next Year

Looking ahead, the Morton Golf Foundation is excited to continue its partnership with the Special Olympics, ensuring that next September’s event will be even more memorable. We invite everyone to join us in supporting these incredible athletes and celebrating the power of inclusion.
