Peggy Dodds City Jr Championship

87th Annual Peggy Dodds City Jr Championship Held at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex

Under sunny skies with a bit of a breezy the Junior golfers turned out to compete in the 2-day Sacramento City Junior Championship Peggy Dodds Memorial hosted by the Sacramento City Council this week.

This Junior Championship tournament has been held for the past 86 years. In 2019, Peggy Dobbs, a member of the Sacramento City Council retired, and the Sacramento City Council added her name to this event for her dedicated service to golf and the junior community.   

The Over-all Winner in the boy’s Age division of 16 – 18 was won by A.J. Salvetti from Stockton, CA. He shot 72 on the first day, and 67 on the second day for a total of 139.

In the girl’s age division of 10 – 11 years old playing 9-holes each day, Olivia Lee, a Morton Golf Foundation Junior Golf Development Grant Winner won 2nd place by shooting 40 the first day, and 38 the second day for a total of 78. She is from Fairfield, CA, and is coached by Tim Berg. She has been playing competitive golf for the past 5 years.

This year’s iteration of the tournament marked the 87th annual Peggy Dodds City Jr Championship. The tournament had 129 junior golfers come out and compete at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.
