Levy, Na, O’Keefe and Yee Lead Incredible Junior Scoring at Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship Regional Qualifying at Haggin Oaks

The Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship was founded in 2019 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to compete in a truly, open competition in hopes to fulfill their dreams of becoming one of the best junior golfers in the world. The Series features a two-stage qualifying process, with the first stage being at the local level (18-holes) and the second stage being at the Regional level (36-holes). The Series culminates in one National Championship (54-holes) covering 45+ states across the continental United States. Golfers who participate will compete in one of the four divisions: Boys 14-18, Boys 13 & Under, Girls 14-18 and Girls 13 & Under.

On Easter Sunday at the Alister MacKenzie Golf Course at Haggin Oaks (4/17/22), the tour held a qualifying to advance to the next stage of qualifying for this unique national event.

Charley Levy from Camarillo, CA was the leader in the clubhouse for the boys 14-18 age group with an even-par 72 followed by Brandon Knight of Pleasanton, CA. In the girls 14-18 age group, Chico’s Amy Na fired a one-under 71 and was followed by Danville’s Sarah Yeh at one over 73. The boys 13 and under leaderboard was led by Palo Alto’s Brendan O’Keefe with an even-par 72 followed by Atherton’s Logan Mills at +2 74. And last, but not least in the girls 13 and under division, Petra Yee of Sacramento, CA fired a blistering score of -4 68 to lead by two equally amazingly low scores of -2 70’s from El Dorado Hills’ Paavni Behl and San Ramon’s Cathy Zhang.

The Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship (NB3 JGNC) has added a new pathway to reach the National Championship which will be broadcast on Golf Channel. “The opportunity to provide an accessible pathway to the game for junior golfers in my home region is a dream come true. To stand alongside Coushatta resort, Nike Golf, Wilson Golf, Junior Golf Hub, and Guerra Investment Advisors is a testament to the quality of this venture. The sport of golf can make a difference in the lives of these young boys and girls, just like it did in mine!” says founder, Notah Begay III.
