An Inside Look at Clubfitting with Mizuno and the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer

Frank LaRosa with Golf to Go on ESPN Radio 1320 learns more about the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer and Mizuno’s custom club-fitting options from Scott Little, Territory Manager for Mizuno Golf.

Did you take the time to get custom fit for your current set of clubs? Are you thinking of getting a new set of irons and wondering how custom fitting can benefit you? The folks at Mizuno Golf share the benefits of custom fitting when using their new shaft optimizer.

The Mizuno Shaft Optimizer measures more than clubhead speed – it measures four additional properties as well, including tempo (the change of direction from backswing to downswing), the amount of toe-down the shaft creates in your swing, the forward bending of the shaft before impact and the release factor.

What is the release factor? According to Little, “Some people release the club with their hands [and] some people will release it more with their bodies.”

Once you’ve hit a few shots and the data is collected, it is then placed into a computer where the data is analyzed and the best shaft options are recommended based on your “Swing DNA” – basically your unique hitting style. The Mizuno fitting cart features 44 shafts and 38 heads with over 850 combinations to dial into your game. With the fitting cart, demo clubs can be built on the spot based on the recommendations to find your ideal set.
