From Haggin Oaks to the U.S. Open: Zach Pollo’s Journey to Golf’s Biggest Stage

A familiar face is heading to golf’s grandest arena—and he’s taking the heart of Sacramento with him.

Zach Pollo, a proud graduate of Whitney High School in Rocklin and a rising amateur star, has officially earned a spot in the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club after successfully advancing through Final Qualifying in Valencia, California. Known as “the longest day in golf,” Final Qualifying is one of the sport’s toughest tests, and Zach passed it with flying colors.

A Homegrown Talent, Shaped by Community

Zach’s story is more than just a local golfer making it to a major—it’s a celebration of the Sacramento golf community and what it means to develop athletes the right way. From his earliest days competing in junior events around Northern California to now stepping onto one of the sport’s biggest stages, Zach is a true product of the support systems that helped him thrive.

At the center of that journey is Haggin Oaks Golf Complex and the Morton Golf Foundation, two organizations that played a vital role in his development. Zach is an alumnus of the Foundation and spent countless hours honing his game at Haggin Oaks, under the guidance of his longtime mentor and PGA Master Professional, Tom Morton.

More Than a Caddie: A Full-Circle Moment

In a moment that beautifully ties together years of growth, Tom Morton will be on the bag as Zach’s caddie at the U.S. Open. Their relationship goes far beyond coach and player. Tom has been by Zach’s side since he was about 14 years old, helping him grow both as a golfer and a person. Now, they’ll take on Oakmont together, facing the game’s toughest test as a team built on years of trust, guidance, and shared dreams.

A Win for Junior Golf and Community Support

For the Morton Golf Foundation, this moment is a shining example of what happens when junior golfers are given access, mentorship, and the opportunity to flourish. The Foundation’s mission is to open doors for young people through golf—and Zach’s success shows just how far that mission can reach.

His journey is a powerful reminder that when a community invests in its youth, the results can be life-changing. Zach represents not only the future of the game but the strength of a supportive golf family that started right here in Sacramento.

Let’s Go Zach! Sacramento is Behind You!

As Zach tees it up at Oakmont, he won’t be alone. He’ll be carrying the hopes, pride, and support of an entire region with him. From junior golf rounds at Haggin Oaks to the fairways of the U.S. Open, his story is one of perseverance, passion, and community.

We couldn’t be prouder.
