Tom Morton’s Journey to the Barracuda Championship- What’s in the Bag?

Find out what’s in the bag of Morton Golf’s own Director of Player Development, Tom Morton, as he prepares for his first PGA Tour event – the Barracuda Championship.

Today, Wednesday, August 2, 2017, begins the practice round for the Barracuda Championship at Montrêux Golf & Country Club in Reno, Nevada. Morton Golf’s own Director of Player Development, Tom Morton, qualified for this event by winning the NCPGA Match Play event back in May. Tom Morton’s journey towards the championship began on Monday, May 1, 2017, when he won both of his first matches at Yolo Fliers Club in Woodland. From there, he drove to Santa Cruz to prepare for his next rounds. On Tuesday, Tom won both of his matches at Pasatiempo and then drove to Pebble Beach. The excitement continued Wednesday morning when he won his match at Cypress Point. Everyone was thrilled to learn that he also won his final match at Pebble Beach, making him the 2017 NCPGA Match Play Champion.

This is a huge accomplishment for anyone, especially for someone who has dreamed of playing in a PGA Tournament his whole life.  According to Tom, “This is beyond my imagination to have kept winning matches against so many great players in our section. With the win, to have received an exemption into a PGA Tour event is a dream I have always had. I am getting up there in age and to be honest, this is a dream I thought had passed me by.”

The Barracuda Championship will be held at the Montreux Golf and Country Club on August 3-6, 2017. Click HERE for ticket information. If you’re unable to make the trip, follow along on our social media channels for updates on his round.
