Students are introduced to golf from green to tee. All camps include a snack, warm up activity, and instruction in the fundamentals and mastery of golf skills.

William Land Park Golf Course is proud to be an official The First Tee of Greater Sacramento golf facility. Our junior golf programs are three-fold, in that they all incorporate the Life Skills of The First Tee (accompanied by The Nine Core Values and Nine healthy Habits), golf skills and athletic movements and exercises to not only help the development of the students golf game, but also create a healthy youth population.

The First Tee is a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to providing young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop through golf, life-enhancing values such as: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. In all of our junior classes we bridge these core values to everyday life and they can be used.

The golf skills curriculum is a station based curricula that helps students to discover and improve in a safe environment. We discuss putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play, the full swing and basic rules and etiquette with all ages and ability levels. Typically we have stations that are set up to help children with one specific fundamental element at a time. It is a priority of the WLP Coaches coaching staff to keep the student to coach ratio to 5:1 or less.

The third element to our junior golf program is the emphasis on not only an athletic golf motion, but a healthy lifestyle. Some of these athletic movements include: throwing a ball, jumping rope, hula hooping, balance boards, hurdles, speed ladders and much more. We have found that the children not only enjoy “playing” but have also incorporated these healthy activities into their golf game and their everyday life.
