MLL All-Star FlingGolf Invitational To Be Held At Haggin Oaks GC July 8

PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf, in partnership with Major League Lacrosse, is staging the second annual MLL All-Star FlingGolf Invitational July 8, 2017 at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, Calif.

FlingGolf is a dynamic new sport that is a hybrid between golf and lacrosse and is played on a regulation golf course. Players use a FlingStick to throw a golf ball similarly to how a lacrosse ball is thrown with a lacrosse stick. Instead of 14 golf clubs, players use a single, lightweight carbon fiber stick that has a cradle at the end to release the golf ball. An average “fling” can be launched 150-200 yards, with MLL players exceeding 250 yards. FlingGolf is now offered for play at Haggin Oaks. Click HERE for details.

FlingGolf entered into a partnership with MLL last year and introduced the sport at the 2016 All-Star Weekend. As a result, lacrosse fans have enthusiastically embraced the sport.

“Since our introduction to the fans of Major League Lacrosse, FlingGolf has become embedded in the lacrosse community,” said Alex Van Alen, CEO of PlusOne Sports and founder of FlingGolf. “Our successful partnership has allowed us to engage with MLL’s young, athletic and active fan base – the exact type of players that are rapidly adopting and growing this young sport.”

Not only have the MLL fans quickly taken to FlingGolf, but some of the professional players are becoming hooked on the fast-growing sport as well.

“As soon as I picked up the FlingStick, I knew that this sport rocked. I’m able to combine two sports I love – lacrosse and golf – and have a blast out on the golf course,” said Will Manny, Captain of the Boston Cannons MLL team.

FlingGolfers can play alongside traditional golfers, with the same course set-up, allowing players to learn the fundamentals of the game. For juniors and millennials, FlingGolf is inexpensive, fast-paced and fun. It requires no golf bag, one stick and follows a simpler set of rules. For family time, group outings, and special get-togethers, whether kids or adults, no one gets left behind thanks to FlingGolf.

Nearly $2,000 in prizes will be awarded to MLL players participating in the nine-hole event with the first-place finisher receiving $1,000. There will be $250 prizes awarded for longest fling and closest to the pin. Scores are calculated by point totals with an eagle earning four points, birdies – three points, pars – two points, and a bogey – one point.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the MLL All-Star FlingGolf Invitational coming to Haggin Oaks,” said Zach Hall, Millennial Golf Ambassador at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. “FlingGolf attracts a new type of player to the course, so it will be great to have these incredible professional athletes playing here and showing off their skills.”

The MLL All-Star Game will also take place Saturday, July 8 at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento. For more info on the game or to purchase tickets go to majorleaguelacrosse.com. For more info on FlingGolf or to purchase a FlingStick, go to flinggolf.com.
