Haggin Oaks Unveils Its 80th Anniversary Logo

The Haggin Oaks Golf Complex turns 80 years old… and she looks pretty fantastic for an octogenarian if we do say so ourselves. To celebrate, we’ve updated the famous Alister MacKenzie logo for the celebration. You’ll see this logo utilized here and there for the coming year. Over those 80 years, we’ve had some famous people and events come and go. Did you know?

* George Archer– won the California State Fair Golf Championship at Haggin Oaks and went on to win 31 times on the PGA and Senior PGA Tours.

* Bing Crosby, Babe Ruth and Bob Hope did a Red Cross Charity Exhibition at Haggin Oaks with teh Governor of California in 1942.

* Doug Ford won the1954 Sacramento Open, an official PGA Tour event, the year before he would be the PGA Tour Player of the Year in 1955.

* Ben Hogan finished 3rd in the 1938 Sacramento Open at Haggin Oaks, winning his first ever professional check of $350!

* Johnny Miller played 18 holes in an exhibition to help raise money for SAY Golf (now The First Tee of Greater Sacramento) back in 1995.

* Sam Snead played in two Sacramento Opens (1937 and 1938) and then won the 1941 Sacramento Open Invitational at Haggin Oaks by one stroke over Toney Penna.
