Haggin Oaks Golf Complex Named Number 9 In Top 20 Municipal Courses by Golfday

The website GolfDay has recently named the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex as #9 in their list of one of their Top US Municipal Golf Courses, joining an illustrious list of golf courses across the country.

GolfDay “places significant emphasis on the course architect. Names like Flynn, Mackenzie, Tillinghast or Ross may not be familiar to everyone, but when you play a course designed by one of them you will feel it immediately and cherish the experience. Each (course) has been evaluated to assure that the GolfDay Rating is an accurate reflection of course quality. Additional GolfDay rating criteria include USGA Course and Slope ratings, current rankings by Golf Digest, Golfweek and Links Magazine, general course conditioning, and the scope and quality of practice facilities.”

“Most everybody has heard about municipal courses like Bethpage, Chambers Bay and Torrey Pines where the U.S. Open has been played, but there are a great many fantastic muni’s that are less famous—and you may have one right in your backyard.”

“We feel blessed to be included with such an amazing group of golf courses from coast to coast and across the country- many of which are considered the very best in our industry,” says Ken Morton, Jr, VP Retail & Marketing for Morton Golf, the management company running Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. “We’re honored that GolfDay recognizes the unique jewel that Sacramento has with this special Municipal golf property.”

The organization had this to say about the facility:

“Alister MacKenzie is one of the towering figures in golf course architecture, and Haggin Oaks is home to one of his rare designs open for public play. Offering 36 holes as well as a variety of options for ladies golf, a terrific practice facility and junior golf program, the residents of Sacramento are fortunate indeed to have such a great facility available to their community.”
