The Upper body is super important in any golf game. To hit the ball a long way, the shoulders ought to play an important role in the swing. Long Drive duo, Heather and Damien will explain what this means and why a golf ball doesn’t go straight. Many factors could be in play, such as head movement, poor weight shift and swinging a club that is not on plane. Join Us!

Damien_HeatherWho are Damien and Heather?

Damien and Heather are the dynamic duo. These two provide things that no-other guy/girl team can provide. As two of the longest competitors in their sport, they tackle days on the course together, they entertain crowds and they help charitable organizations.

Damien was born in Santa Rosa and raised on the military base in Oahu, Hawaii but San Diego, CA, is where he calls home, because he went to high school there and then on to accept an intercollegiate scholarship at San Diego State for their basketball team. He is currently settled in Sacramento CA, and he is the proud owner of his Rottweiler named Diego. Memories of his great grandfather’s golf stories have helped to inspire Damien’s accomplishments and future goals. He’s only been in the sport of Long Drive for four years.

In 2011, Damien finished in the top 24 in the Aldila International World Match Play Championships. In 2012, he again advanced – finishing top 20 in that same event. Damien’s longest ball of 2012 was 457 yards. With an immeasurable amount of strength and the fastest hips in Long Drive, Damien is the next up and coming star in Long Drive so watch for him as his career launches and his talent explodes in 2013!

His partner, Heather, has been a golfer all of her life. This Sacramento Native attended Sacramento State on a full ride scholarship in 2004. In 2008, she graduated with a degree in Organizational Communications, and she continued playing as a competitive amateur golfer for two years. In 2008 and 2009, she qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships. In 2010, Heather competed in four mini-tour events as a professional with a second place finish in one event.

After only two years of being a long-driver, she has accomplished quite a bit. She finished 2nd internationally in 2011, and she also had two international wins in 2012, and placed 2nd in the world. In 2013, she plans to help spread the word of women’s Long Drive and win the World Championship. “The best part of working together are the extra days we get to spend to ourselves, meeting new people, traveling to different countries, trying new foods and beverages and competing at a world class level in the same sport.”

Beer, BBQ and Balls is the place to bring your friends and family every Friday and Saturday night! The Haggin Oaks Driving Range is located at 3645 Fulton Avenue in Sacramento, CA.
