PGA Junior Golf Camps 2024

Everything You Need to Know About Camp:

  • Action-packed camps include hands-on instruction led by certified PGA Professionals.
  • Signature PGA camp curriculum focuses on developing golf skills (full swing, short game, rules and etiquette) while keeping the experience fun and engaging (games and activities).
  • A fun, safe and educational environment designed with your child’s well being in mind.
  • Low student to instructor ratio (approximately 6:1)

Half Day Camps are designed to inspire new golfers at the beginning of their journey and further the development of those playing at a beginner to intermediate level. Camps will cover golf fundamentals including posture, grip, putting, chipping, pitching, full swing and simple rules and etiquette. Participants are segmented into smaller groups based on their experience and age to create a favorable and fun learning environment. Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate.

Full Day Camps provide an opportunity for intermediate to advanced junior golfers to continue to improve their technical skills as well as develop an understanding of course management, shot selection, rules and etiquette. Participants are segmented into smaller groups based on their ability level and age to create a favorable learning environment. In the afternoon, campers head to the course for supervised play which allows students to apply techniques they learned on the range to the course. Lunch is included unless otherwise noted. Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced.

Modified Full Day Camps provide an opportunity for advanced beginner to intermediate level golfers to continue to improve their technical skills but also begin the process of understanding course management, shot selection and simple stat tracking. Participants are segmented into small groups based on their experience level to create a more favorable learning environment. Lunch and course play is included unless otherwise noted. Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate.

Please Note: Full Day and Modified Full Day Camps do not include lunch.

Meet the Instructors

To be the best, you must learn from the best. That’s why every junior golf camp instructor has been trained and tested in all aspects of the game by the PGA of America. Our promise – is to support, encourage, and respect each and every one of our campers and authentically inspire them to reach their full potential, both on and off the golf course.

Tom Morton, PGA – Camp Director

PGA Junior Instructor Tom Morton

Born in Sacramento, Tom has been raised at Haggin Oaks since the age of 5. His golf career was fostered through the Haggin Oaks Junior Golf Programs and through his father and five-time national PGA award winner, Ken Morton, Sr. Tom has played tournament golf since the Little Linker program at age 7, leading him to the Junior Golf Association of Northern California Tour and American Junior Golf Association events. His scholastic achievements and golf game enabled Tom to receive a golf scholarship to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he played competitively for 4 years.

As the PGA Director of Player Development for Morton Golf & The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, Tom designs and coaches many programs. His philosophy is that the game has two types of motions, finesse and power swings, but the main goal is to always…HAVE FUN! He believes that each individual has their own golf blueprint based on current beliefs and body function and his job is to improve the blueprint for maximum success and enjoyment.

Alex Cooper, Camp Co-Director

PGA Junior Instructor Alex Cooper

Alex grew up in a small town outside of Leicester, England, and started playing golf at the age of 12. Since moving to the US, he graduated from Sacramento State with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.

Alex is currently a PGA Associate and has been working with the junior programs at Haggin Oaks, Bing Maloney, and William Land Park. Alex’s aim is to simplify the game and make it fun, also striving to make each person feel that they are valued and heard.
