Todd Sones’ Scoring Zone Short Game School Coming to Haggin Oaks

As a special event for our members, we are bringing Todd Sones, one of America’s 50 Greatest Teachers as recognized by Golf Digest, to host a Scoring Zone Short Game School on Thursday, April 26th at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. Approximately 42% of your score is on the green.

Another 25% is from the edge of the green to 30 yards out. Studies show that the average golfer loses 6-8 shots per round in those areas. Todd will be working with our staff to help students improve their score by targeting “The Scoring Zone”.

8:30 am – 8:45 am     Introduction and Welcome
8:45 am – 9:30 am     Indoor presentation on Putting
9:30 am – 11:30 am  Individual application, putter fitting, and working through putting performance stations.
11:30 am – 12:30 pm     Lunch
12:30 pm – 3:30 pm  How to play key scoring zone shorts around the green: Bump and run, hinge and hold, trapped toss shot off tight lies, and the shallow lob.

Todd Sones is one of the Top 100 Teachers in America as voted by Golf Magazine as well as one of Golf Digest’s ‘Americas 50 Greatest Teachers’. He has been named the Illinois PGA Teacher of the Year twice, as well as receiving the Horton Smith Award. He also owns and operates the Todd Sones Impact Golf Center at White Deer Golf Club in Vernon Hills, Illinois, currently ranked 4th Best Golf School in the country by Golf Magazine.


Todd has worked with numerous PGA and LPGA Tour members such as Robert Gamez, Scott McCarron, Paul Goydos, Steve Jones, Shaun Micheel, Jay Williamson, Stephanie Louden and 2003 Women’s U.S. Open Champion Hillary Lunke.


Todd has published over 70 instructional articles for national magazines such as Golf Magazine and Golf Digest, as well as published two books, “Lights out Putting” and “Saving Par”.
