Haggin Oak’s Richie Gibbs Shined in PGA Playing Ability Test

Haggin Oaks Employee Richie Gibbs is on Track to Soon Become a Teaching Professional

On Thursday, August 3rd, the PGA Representatives came to Haggin Oaks Golf Complex to hold a PAT (Professional Ability Test) on Arcade Creek Golf Course

The wind was up, the temperature stayed down, and it was perfect golf weather.

Each qualifier played 36 holes, 2 18-hole rounds where their score had to be 154 strokes or less to qualify. There were 20 qualifiers that day and only a few golfers passed the test.

Richie Gibbs was one of them!

Richie has been an Apprentice PGA Teaching Pro for the past year at Haggin Oaks.

His dad taught him golf when he was 3 years old, Richie continued to work on his game ever since.

His junior career was coming up through the First Tee – Greater Sacramento playing on the Junior Tour and several other Northern California tournaments. He won the Peggy Dodds City Junior Championship Tournament when he was just 12 years old and is proud of the trophy that is housed in the MacKenzie Sports Bar & Grille at Haggin Oaks. On this same trophy his 2 older brothers, Peter & Alex have also won this event.

Now that Richie has completed and passed the PAT test, this grants him status to continue his goal of becoming a PGA Professional. Richie has proven that hard work on and off the course will help him continue this mission. This will open many opportunities for his career in golf as his hard work is beginning to pay off.

Continued good luck to Richie as we see him continue this journey at Haggin Oaks. He can be seen in the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop selling equipment, giving a fitting in the Player Performance Studio, and teaching lessons on the driving range.

The future for Richie Gibbs in golf is priceless!
