One of the most fascinating things about golf is how it reflects the cycle of life. No matter what you shoot — the next day you have to go back to the first tee and begin all over again and make yourself into something.
Though Mack was a multi-sport athlete from a young age, it was not until high school that he discovered golf. He experienced early success; winning his high school’s conference tournament his sophomore year. It was then that he decided to put his energy and focus toward golf. Mack’s hard work and dedication in high school led to a full scholarship to play college golf at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
While in the process of earning his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, he interned as the Head Golf Instructor/Counselor at Lake of the Woods Camp in Decatur, MI. It was there he realized he had a passion for working with children and teaching the game of golf and was eager to return to camp the following summer. Since then, Mack spent the summer of 2014 as the Head Golf Instructor at Camp Lohikan in Lake Como, PA and for six months was a three-year-old teacher at a preschool in his hometown of Kenosha, WI.
Mack has been brought to Haggin Oaks as the Lead Coach for Junior and Disabled golf, in which he is excited to forge a career in golf and make a positive impact on the lives of those students he encounters. He is a compassionate and caring coach, with much patience. In addition, Mack has competed and trained at a high level himself and understands how more experienced players should practice and train in order keep getting better.
His teaching style can vary greatly based on a student’s age, ability, health concerns and learning styles. But he is very interested in how the body and mind work together in the golf swing, he believes by becoming more aware of students current habits we can develop a game plan to help students reach their goals. Whether that is obtaining a scholarship to play in college, being the best golfer in your foursome, or breaking 100 for the first time, Mack can help you reach your goals.
