Volunteer Profile: Johnny Comilang

Johnny Comilang has been a Volunteer Assistant for the past 3 years.

Three years ago Johnny started to play with the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) golf group at Haggin Oaks.

Each year  Morton Golf Foundation does their biggest fundraiser of the year called “Golf & Guitars” and Johnny was chosen as one of the lucky players to be in their foursome in the charity golf tournament.

At that event, Johnny found a “new home” at Haggin Oaks. Every time he steps onto the property of Haggin Oaks Golf Complex he feels the friendship and warmth of the people he comes in contact with through being a Volunteer Assistant.

Over nine years ago Johnny was challenged when he had a stroke.   Through his perseverance, he continues to play golf with only 1 hand. Johnny enjoys golf for fun, exercise, and meeting new friends.  He likes golf because it keeps him active by using his brain and personality.

Johnny can be seen on the #1 Tee of Arcade Creek Golf Course during his Volunteer Assistant hours or being active with the “Golf Fore Health” group as he joins other new friends rehabilitating through the game.

A few weeks ago Johnny won 1st Place in the WAGA (Western Amputee Golf Assoc.) golf tournament.

Johnny continues to keep golf in his life and appreciates all his friends at Haggin Oaks.
