People with disabilities in the Sacramento region are fortunate to have some of the finest disability programs in Northern California.

Saving Strokes is a one-day event geared toward improving strength, flexibility, and balance. Saving Strokes also offers: Blood Pressure Screenings, Physical Therapy Assessments, One-on-One Instruction with a Golf Pro, Adaptive Equipment for Golf and a Caregiver’s “Comfort Green” with Massage, Make-overs and more. - Saving Strokes Informational Video

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned veteran, you will find a place with Fore Golf if you are disabled or want to volunteer. Clinics include: golf-ready assessments and hands-on group lessons. PGA and LPGA professionals provide instruction. Fore Golf Sacramento is a wonderful rehab tool. The program is eight weeks in length which includes a pre-assessment, six-weeks of lessons, and a post-assessment. Adaptive equipment is available.
Any individual, age 9 or older, with a disability or medical condition that compromises their ability to play golf may participate in this program. The California Eagle program is held every Tuesday night at 5:30 PM between mid April and mid September at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex and on Wednesday nights at the William Land Golf Course. This group is made up of “Special Olympic” Golfers with Down’s Syndrome or Cerebral Palsy. This program began in 1985 and participants in the program have earned a gold and a bronze medal in the World Special Olympic’s Golf Games held at Duke University by the PGA of America.

The Swing for the Blind Program has been in existence for over 25 years. The program is for individuals who are blind or legally blind.

Ruben Samaniego is the founder of Fore Golf Sacramento and has received regional and national acclaim for his work with the Disabled. He has a tremendous following of disabled as well as able bodied golfers.

The Western Amputee Golf Association was founded to help amputees and other people with physical disabilities build a sense of personal pride and confidence. They host several tournaments throughout the region and the United States.
