“Play by the rules, have a good short game, and keep it fun”
Kris Monaghan grew up in Los Alamos, NM where at 12 years old she learned to play golf alongside her two brothers and sister. She participated and excelled in the New Mexico Junior PGA program, played on the Los Alamos High School Golf Team and competed in National Amateur events. Kris played her collegiate golf at Oklahoma and the University of New Mexico, where she won both titles and honors. After turning pro in 1982, Kris won her first tournament, the Michelob Classic, a mini tour event in Redding, California. In 1983 she traveled to Britain to participate on the Women’s European Tour as a member of the Baume & Mercier Women’s Team. She returned to the United States and the LPGA Tour Qualifier in 1984, where she was a Co-Medalist and earned her LPGA Tour playing privileges for 1985. Kris played on the LPGA Tour for 15 years and is a two-time winner. Both of those victories took place in Southern California in the San Diego area. She was a “wire-to-wire” winner in her last victory at the Kyocera Classic in 1993 and finished 23rd on the money list that year.
